A family-owned pizzeria that has been a presence in Atlanta as a food truck now has its first brick-and-mortar location.
Triple Jay’s Pizza opened this past weekend in the Azure on the Park development in Midtown, taking the place of
the now-shuttered Cactus House Mexican restaurant. The eatery recently took second place in the AJC’s reader poll of the best pizza in Atlanta.
The business is in soft open mode with slightly reduced hours until its grand opening celebration on Feb. 22.
Triple Jay’s, which has been operating as a food truck since 2015, comes from Philadelphia native Jeremiah Terrence, his sons Justin and Jeremiah (the origin of the three J’s referenced in the name) and his wife LaSonia.
The decision to open a brick-and-mortar was made after customers who followed the food truck wanted to know where to find Triple Jay’s pizza in the off-season.
“Midtown gave us a homey feeling,” LaSonia said. “The residents, the apartments and the foot traffic are here.”
The restaurant’s menu will be similar to that of the food truck’s, with a few additions including a Detroit-style pizza and barbecue chicken pizza, by the slice and the pie.
While it’s in soft-open mode, Triple Jay’s is open from 11 a.m.-9:30 p.m. Monday-Wednesday; 11 a.m.-midnight Thursday-Saturday; and noon-8 p.m. Sunday. The food truck will continue to operate as normal.
