The big game is days away and thousands of Americans are getting ready to watch Super Bowl 54 over food with friends.
It’s one of the biggest days of the year for local bars, restaurants and pizza places.
Thirsty Fish in Downtown Traverse City expects big crowds.
“Super Bowl Sunday to a sports bar is one of those iconic days of the year,” said Thirsty Fish owner Don Walters. “Sports bars pretty much own Super Bowl Sunday.”
Pizza shops don’t do too bad either.
Domino’s Pizza says it’s one of their top five busiest delivery days of the year. They sell 2 million pizzas, which is 40% busier than a normal Sunday.
In Traverse City, many shops will also be getting busy cranking out hundreds of pizzas for hungry fans.
Mancino’s Pizza & Grinders is ready to put up some big numbers this weekend.
“On Sunday, we’ll probably toss probably 60 or 50 extra larges,” said Mancino’s employee Brandon Gamelin.
They’ll also go through plenty of everything else on the menu, including wings.
The National Chicken Council predicts Americans will eat 1.4 billion wings on Sunday. Last year, Mancino’s didn’t have enough to meet demand, but they say they won’t be making that mistake again.
“Double up on wings, make sure you’re getting everything re-stocked and ready to go,” said Gamelin.
So no matter who comes out on top in Miami, local restaurants will win big.
“It will be a good Super Bowl Sunday for sure,” said Gamelin.
