Sun Valley fire crew deliveries: A pizza and a baby - KOLO

SUN VALLEY, Nev. (KOLO)-- The Sun Valley Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District crew had a pair of unusual deliveries in their Saturday-Sunday shift: Pizza and baby.

About 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, a pizza delivery driver was “t-boned” or struck from the side by another vehicle in the area of Klondike Drive and East Seventh Avenue while making a delivery, TMFPD spokesman Adam Mayberry said. The delivery driver suffered minor injuries but had to be transported for medical treatment.

The three-person crew, Capt. Brett Porter, driver Scott Fenley and firefighter/paramedic Jose Rodriguez, volunteered to finish the job for the driver, got the delivery address and took the pizza to the customer, Mayberry said.

Then about 4 a.m. Sunday the crew got a call of a woman going into labor in Sun Valley. When they arrived, the woman was in labor.

Rodriguez, the paramedic, assisted in delivering the baby girl. Mother and baby are doing fine, the district said. Other details about the newborn were not available.
